Manchester United have announced the appointment of Ralf Rangnick as their new interim boss. The experienced German tactician will be returning to the sidelines after a spell of being the manager of sports and development at Russian outfit Lokomotiv Moscow.
Rangnick is a stopgap solution for the Red Devils as he will replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with whom they recently parted ways after a humiliating loss against Watford. After a spell of uncertainty, Rangnick will be looking to steady the ship at Old Trafford. The experienced German tactician has joined Manchester United on a six-month deal till the end of the season. But the offer to stay on and take up a role of expertise at a high role in improving their football structure after this season appealed a lot to him. Sources reveal that the German tactician was not very satisfied to take up a short term role as an interim manager. Rangnick is currently waiting for his work visa and unfortunately won’t make it to the sidelines as United takes on Arsenal at Old Trafford. He will probably make it to the Crystal Palace game as his first on the sidelines for the Red Devils.
Rangnick was delighted to join Manchester United as an interim manager. He highlighted how the roster at Old Trafford has a lot of balance of youth and experience and he will help them fulfill their potential in the coming months. The German told the club website, “I am excited to be joining Manchester United and focused on making this a successful season for the club.
“The squad is full of talent and has a great balance of youth and experience. All my efforts for the next six months will be on helping these players fulfil their potential, both individually and, most importantly, as a team.
“Beyond that, I look forward to supporting the club’s longer-term goals on a consultancy basis ,” he added.
While Manchester United are undergoing a transformation in the managerial role, they are currently in eighth position in the Premier League, 12 points off the lead. Reports suggest that United’s favoured pick is Mauricio Pochettino, who is currently at Paris Saint Germain. They are hoping to snap up the Argentine tactician next season.
