Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said he will not buy into the possibility of a Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup treble for his side after their 2-0 victory over Peterborough on Tuesday evening.
The win didn’t come easy for the Citizens who had to wait till the second half before they got their first goal of the game through Riyadh Mahrez on the hour mark.
Jack Grealish made it 2-0 seven minutes later but the less fancied hosts held on for a respectable loss. Meanwhile, Pep Guardiola further said that his team will now focus on the Manchester derby against United at the weekend.
He also had praises for the two goalscorers on the night and stated that Mahrez’s quality, especially in his preferred position, is quite obvious while on Grealish, he believes that a recent return from injury is having its a toll on the English Midfielder.
“He (Grealish) had chances in the first half that was more difficult. He came back from injury and he is playing at a really good level.” Guardiola said.
In other FA Cup results, Crystal Palace defeated Championship side Stoke City 2-1. Furthermore, Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur was knocked out of the FA Cup by Middlesbrough.
After a goalless 90 minutes, the championship side did the damage in the second half of extra time.
On Wednesday, Chelsea will play Luton Town, Liverpool will okay Norwich City, and Southampton will face West Ham.
Meanwhile, in the Premier League match played on Tuesday evening, Leicester City pipped Burnley 2-0 at the Turf Moor. The second-half substitutes James Madison and Jamie Vardy’s goals scored in the second half behind the foxes the important Victory.
While Maddison scored in the 82nd minute, Vardy sealed the win in stoppage time to make it their fourth win in 2022
