Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes recently opened up on his transfer links with Arsenal. The young Brazilian has been on the radar for the Gunners for over three years and now is the time they think is right for the North London outfit to pounce on him.
Guimaraes recently admitted Arsenal’s transfer links in a recent interaction with Globo Esporte. But he also cleared that his current focus is solely on Lyon’s success.
“It’s normal to be mentioned like this when you are an Olympic champion, have been called up for the national team and are performing well individually. But I don’t really like to think about it. I let my agent manage that.”
The 24-year who started from Gremio Osasco Audax and later joined Atletico Paranaense came to Europe when he joined Lyon back in January 2020. He however has big hopes of making it to the Premier League. He shared how his focus right now is with Lyon, his heart somewhere wants a move to a Premier League club in future.
“Arsenal approached my agent, but there was no offer. My aim, and I made it clear to Juninho, is to win a title with Lyon. The fans have not had one for a long time. We have the Coupe de France, the Europa League and the league. It is difficult with the level that PSG are at, but anything can happen. My aim is to win a title here, but I have never hidden my desire to play in the Premier League.”
Bruno Guimaraes falls into the category of Eduardo Camavinga, they are the midfielder who can do it all. They are great as an enforcer and equally adept to play in the hole behind the primary striker. He is great with his close control and can even break up play when needed. He would be a great fit at Arsenal as he will compliment both, Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard.
However, the job will not be easy for Arsenal as clubs like Paris Saint Germain and Chelsea are also interested in 24-year-old Brazilian midfielder. But Arsenal are in the need of a quick fix as they have lost Thomas Partey and Mohammed Elneny to national duties in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Even Arsenal boss Mikiel Arteta acknowledge that they are a bit shorthanded and need some reinforcements this winter.
“We are going to move and we are going to look for options because we are very short there.”
