After just a season on his Chelsea return, Romelu Lukaku could rejoin Inter Milan on a loan deal.
The Belgium striker had left the Serie A giant after leading them to their first Serie A title in a decade to rejoin Chelsea for a club-record £97.5m fee last summer.
Despite playing 44 games for the Blues, the lanky striker seems to want a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are ready to release him to Inter on loan as the Serie A side have said they cannot afford to re-sign him permanently. The club that recently lost the Serie A title to AC Milan are also keen to bring him back to the San Siro on loan.
But before any move can be completed, the financial details must make sense for Chelsea, who bought the striker that scored 15 goals in 44 games for them.
Lukaku had admitted he was keen to return to Inter Milan in an interview with Sky Sports in December. This has made him lose his place in the team as Thomas Tuchel doesn’t really believe him much.
After a disappointing 2021/22 campaign, Inter still wants to sign Lukaku, who scored 64 goals in 95 games and helped them to the Serie A title during his time at the club.
As the process begins, the Belgium international’s lawyer met with Inter last week to enquire about the feasibility of a potential move back to Serie A.
Meanwhile, the Serie A side are in no rush to make a deal. This is according to the club’s chief executive Giuseppe Marotta.
Inter actually wanted a striker. Marotta is hoping that Paulo Dybala will sign for them after leaving Juventus upon the expiry of his contract.
