Arsenal’s temporary manager Freddie Ljungberg has asked the Arsenal board to decide on appointing a permanent manager at the London club as soon as possible after another uninspiring display at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday where the Gunners lost to Manchester City 3-0.
The caretaker manager revealed that it would be better for the club if it is revealed whether he would be appointed as the permanent manager or another manager would be appointed.
According to the manager who was installed after the departure of the Spaniard Unai Emery, the coaching team in charge at the club for the last few weeks has been stretched after being instructed to work on a game-by-game basis with the hierarchy showing reluctance in appointing a new coach.
Ljungberg said: “I’ve told them that they need to make a decision. Per is an academy manager, and he is doing two jobs in one go. I think a decision has to be made so we can have the same resources as other clubs.”
In the last five games for Arsenal, the team has only won one match, Monday’s 3-1 victory at the Olympic Stadium against West Ham United. Before then, the Gunners have lost to Brighton at home, drew Norwich at Carrow Road, drew Southampton and lost to Leicester city, all in the English Premier League.
Meanwhile, in all competitions, Arsenal have just one win in twelve
games, and the team will know its next opponents in round 32 of the UEFA Europa League on Monday while their next EPL fixture is next Saturday at Merseyside against Everton.
On the league table, the Gunners are pulling off the top 6 position gradually as they sit in the ninth position with 22 points from 17 games played so far, four points away from Spurs who sit in the last Europa League place and seven points away from Chelsea in fourth.
