Liverpool are hot on the heels of Premier League leaders Manchester City. Therefore Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara believes that fixtures in April will be very exciting and probably the most exciting months of his career
Recently speaking to the Liverpool club media Thiago shared how he feels that this month will define his career and will be very important for him as a footballer.
“The other day I was talking with some friends about it and I never had, in the years that I have been involved in football, I never had a month so exciting like this with such important and exciting matches every three days. So it will be amazing,” Thiago stated.
He then compares this month with the World Cup or the Euros as he highlights how every game is literally a final as they cannot afford to drop points at all.
“Well, it’s not the most exciting month of my career [but] for sure it is exciting because you are competing against the best, in the best competitions as well, but also because it reminds you that we are in the finals. It looks like a World Cup, a European Cup, where every game is a final. With that, we are in a one-mission mood and we are there,” the midfielder continued.
The Reds in April have eight matches to play in three different competitions. Jurgen Klopp’s men will look to bring that deficit down as they take on Manchester City whereas they will be involved in the FA Cup semifinals as well. The Red will also take the field against Benfica in the Champion’s League quarterfinals as it is truly a season defining year.
Klopp’s men have already won the Carabao Cup earlier in the season and Thiago feels that gave them a lot of confidence as they enter the race of winning the other three trophies this season.
“Sure, I think the Carabao Cup gave us much more confidence than we had before. We had high stakes to win the final, we won it and the guys were incredibly happy and confident as well with the performance, with the whole tournament that we made. But also it is important to arrive in this moment of the season and be ready for the finals that we have,” Thiago opined.
Liverpool currently are a point behind Manchester City who are leading the league for some time and even had a massive lead over all other clubs. But now the Reds are within reach and they have nine games to turn it all around this season.
