Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes Arsenal and Chelsea will be in the mix for the Premier League title

The Premier League is a couple of weeks away and with the new players coming in, most of the top half teams have improved their roster for the upcoming season. Therefore Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp feels that teams like Arsenal and Chelsea can challenge for the title in the upcoming season. The teams are still in their pre-season and Klopp feels that both the London outfits have done well to add some great pieces to their roster.

While Chelsea have signed players like Raheem Sterling from Manchester City and Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, Arsenal have roped in some great talents like Gavriel Jesus, Oleksandr ZInchenko and others. So both teams have elevated their roster and Klopp feels that it will only exceed the level of competition for the Premier League title in the upcoming season.

Arsenal have invested a lot of money on their transfers this summer and have had results in the pre season with a 4-0 win over their rivals Chelsea. They have had a win over Everton and Orlando City as well and are looking in brilliant shape under the tutelage of head coach Mikel Arteta.

Therefore the Liverpool manager expects much closer league title race this season with these teams being more competitive. He feels that Arsenal and Chelsea will be much better than last season and will challenge Liverpool and Manchester City to fight for the title. “It was always clear that these kinds of things will happen [teams closing the gap]. Arsenal did, obviously, exceptionally well. Did I mention Chelsea? Probably not,” Klopp told Sky Sports.

Both teams from London were far off from the level of Liverpool and Manchester City last season. The Blues were third in the standings but they were 18 points behind Liverpool. Arsenal on the other hand were in the top four for most of the season but dropped out when it mattered the most and finished fifth in the standings.

While Klopp feels Chelsea and Arsenal will be in the title race, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel feels that they are not quite the same. He was not happy with his team’s 4-0drubbing against Arsenal in preseason. “Given our last two weeks, our game today, we should not mention the two teams in front of us. We got absolutely beaten by a team that does not play Champions League football next season and finished behind us. But at the moment, they seem far ahead of us,” Tuchel shared after their defeat against Arsenal.

Chelsea need to forget about their last few games and focus freshly on the upcoming games. They will travel to Italy and face Udinese and will look to get in shape ahead of the start of the Premier League season.
