Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino shares heartfelt message after getting snubbed from the Brazil World Cup squad

The Brazil national team has several top players in every position and that is how they have dominated world football at the international level over decades. The Selecaos have won five World Cups and it is no mean feat without their star players who have always performed on a big stage. While Tite announced the final list of players for the Qatar World Cup, Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino missed out despite scoring goals consistently off late. Many people feel that he got left out due to the talented array of forwards that Tite was choosing from or simply due to the manager’s preference.

Titte picked the likes of Neymar, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Antony, Richarlison, Pedro, Raphinha, Rodrygo Goes and Vinicius Jr. ahead of the Liverpool forward and some people feel it was a very harsh move considering his current form. People have raised questions on how Richarlison is favoured by the manager and therefore he has made it to the team rather than being consistent for Tottenham Hotspur.

While he was devastated as Firmino had this dream of playing for Brazil at the World Cup, he shared his thoughts on Instagram and thanked his well wishers and supporters for their supportive messages. “Passing by to say thank you for all the lovely messages. The World Cup is a dream for every player and with me it wouldn’t be any different,” Firmino said.

He then showed his gratitude towards the almighty and as a Brazilian he also hopes for the Hexa to come their way as he congratulated the players called up and hopes that God has good things in store for him. “I take this opportunity here to pay my respect and congratulate all the summoned. It was, is, and will always be an honour to defend my country especially with the gift the Lord gave me. I stay here confident that God has the best for me and hoping that hexa comes,” the Liverpool forward added.

Roberto Firmino will join the AXA Training Centre where he will have company in Andy Robertson and Mohamed Salah, as they are among the ones whose countries did not qualify for the World Cup.

It has been a topsy-turvy ride for the Reds this season and Jurgen Klopp will be happy that three of his important players will get much needed rest and will be fresh and raring to go when Premier League football will return on Boxing Day after the quadrennial tournament in Qatar.

Lastly considering his form, Firmino was on a red hot streak as he had registered six goals and three assists in 12 Premier League games. He has also netted twice in the Champions League and could have been a greater addition to the Selecaos unit but Tite had other plans.
