Despite scoring against Arsenal and Manchester United in Liverpool’s pre-season games, 21-year-old Fabio Carvalho has been sold by the Merseyside club to fellow Premier League club Brentford.
Liverpool sold Carvalho to Brentford for £27.5m with potential add-ons, and the deal was confirmed on Monday. The Reds also will get a 17.5% sell-on after the clause was included for the player they got from Fulham in 2022.
The Craven Cottage side will also get 20% of the fee Liverpool gets from Brentford. Carvalho, who was previously on loan to RB Leipzig in Germany and Hull City, will hope that he gets more playing time with the Bees.
Brentford were not the only Premier League club in the player as recently promoted Southampton also had a bid of £15m rejected by Liverpool.
Carvalho only scored three times in his 21 competitive appearances for the Reds as he struggled to settle at Anfield. He went on two loan stints in the 2023/2024 season. At the start of the season, he went on a season-long loan at Leipzig but returned to Liverpool in December before he moved to Championship side Hull. At Hull, he managed nine goals in 20 games as the Tigers narrowly missed out on the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Martín Zubimendi has rejected Liverpool with formal communication to the club. The decision was made on Monday evening as Real Sociedad’s efforts to keep Zubi crucial to making it happen, and he will stay with a new deal imminent.
Elsewhere, Newcastle United made their third bid to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace with an offer of around £60m. The Magpies want to pay £55m upfront before adding another £5m for a player that the Eagles value around £70m.
Marc Geuhi was one of the standout performers for England at the Euro 2024 Championship in Germany and has attracted interest from top PL club sides.
