Liverpool Defender Pull Out of Euros Qualifier

UEFA Nations League finalists, the Netherlands will be without influential defender, and Liverpool star Virgil Van Dijk is out of the team’s Euro 2020 qualifiers against Estonia on Tuesday.

Van Dijk withdrew from the Oranjes squad, citing personal reasons and circumstances as the basis of his withdrawal from the national team’s final Euro 2020 qualifying match.

The defender thus will be the number five player from the Merseyside club to pull out of international matches in November’s international break.

Other Liverpool players who have pulled out of international duty this November include Jordan Henderson due to illness, Joe Gomez with a knee problem, and Andy Robertson, who picked a knock.

Egyptian forward, Mohammed Salah also pulled out of the North Africans 2021 AFCON qualifiers against Kenya, which ended 1-1 on Thursday as well as Mondays travel to Comoros.

All the four players have now returned to the Kops base in Merseyside to Assess and start treatment as soon as possible, and Van Dijk would also join them.

The UEFA player of the year was the captain as the Netherlands secured their spot in the Euro 2020 Championship in a 0-0 draw away at Northern Ireland on Saturday albeit the Dutch Football Association failed to give further explanation on the 28-year Old absence

The result on Saturday meant the Oranje will play in a major competition since Euro 2012 after the team missed out on qualification for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, 2016 Euro Championships and the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Meanwhile, Van Dijk’s withdrawal Will be a cause of concern for fans at Anfield Stadium ahead of the game against Crystal Palace in the English Premier League in the coming weekend.

The expected high scoring game between Netherlands and Estonia is backed at 1.92 to finish with over 4 goals, while a possible result of under 4 goals is priced at 1.90.
