The match was hanging in balance as Everton players were shamelessly wasting time in the second half. Liverpool struggled to find the back of the net and that was when Jurgen Klopp introduced Divock Origi. The Belgian forward is always remembered when the team is in dire straits and he often comes out to be the saviour for the Reds.
Here again he showed his class as he played a hugely important role in setting up Andy Robertson for the first goal and then returned to score one himself in the 85th minute to help Liverpool win 2-0 against Merseyside rivals, Everton.
Liverpool are now a point below Premier League leaders Manchester City and with five games remaining this season, it promises to be a thrilling finish.
However, coming back to Origi, the Belgian striker is all set to leave Liverpool for free as he seeks more game time. But Klopp feels wherever Origi goes he will always be remembered as a Liverpool legend for his contributions for the club.
Following the 2-0 win at the Merseyside derby, Klopp lauded the 27-year-old striker and feels that if he leaves, the team will miss him dearly for what he brings to the table is very unique.
“We will never miss a player more than him, because if he leaves, he will explode wherever he goes. He is a world-class striker, he is a legend and will stay a legend forever, ” Klopp told Sky Sports.
Klopp shares how Origi does not always make the starting eleven but yet he always gives his all for the club whenever he gets a run. “He doesn’t always make the squad which is ridiculous, but he is there when we need him every time. He was involved in both games.
“He is a world-class striker, he is a legend and will stay a legend forever, ” Klopp concludes.
Origi has become a fan favourite ever since his move from LOSC Lille back in 2015. He has never been able to cement his place in the starting eleven but was always effective when used as a substitute. Klopp is helpless in this situation as he has one of the best attacks in the world and therefore he lauds Origi to compliment the team with whatever role he receives.
The Belgian forward has scored six goals in 16 appearances this season for the Reds and there are rumours of an interest from AC Milan. Some reports in Italy already claim that Origi is very close to signing a deal with the Rossoneri.
However only time will tell where the Liverpool hitman ends up next season. But Klopp is absolutely right about the fact that Liverpool will miss him dearly,
