An unconfirmed report says Liverpool have emerged as a shock contender to sign Kylian Mbappe.
A Fifa agent said the Premier League club wants to pay PSG £258 million ($329m).
PSG want to sell the Frenchman after he made it known that he will see out the remaining days on his contract and won’t sign a new deal.
According to Marco Kirdemir, the Reds are willing to invest around €300m in a deal for World Cup winner Mbappe.
Since his future is up in the air after informing Paris Saint-Germain that he will not be triggering an extension clause in his contract through to 2025, he has been placed in the market with many expecting a bid from Real Madrid.
Speaking with Marca, Kirdemir there will be news over the next week from England and Germany, as Liverpool are competing with Real Madrid. He said the Premier League club wants to pay a fortune for Mbappe, which would be around 300 million Euros.
Having recently spoken with Qatari executives regarding Mbappe’s situation at PSG, he said the management is furious as they were confident that he would renew.
As things stand, that is no longer the case, and the Ligue 1 champions are aware that they will have to listen to offers before the 24-year-old forward begins to edge toward free agency in 2024.
Real Madrid have been a long-standing suitor. They were expected to lead the chase for Mbappe. But there has yet to be a single talk of more big-money bids from Santiago Bernabeu.
But the latest development could see the likes of Liverpool join the hunt, with the France international admitting to being an admirer of the Reds recently.
Since this interest is yet to be confirmed, many are waiting in the wings for a bid from Real Madrid, which has been in pole position to sign the superstar who never hid his admiration for Galacticos.
