Robert Lewandowski scored a brace as Barcelona defeated Real Valladolid 4-0 in the Spanish La Liga over the weekend.
The Polish striker had scored a brace in Barcelona’s last game in the La Liga last weekend in a 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad.
Barcelona needed to register Jules Kounde before Sunday’s game, and they were able to do it after La Liga gave them a waiver on Friday, early enough for him to make his Barcelona debut.
After a debut he will remember for the 4-0 victory, the former Sevilla and French defender has said that he has come to the company to win titles.
“I have not played a lot, but I feel very good. I still need a while to get back to my best level. I have come to Barca to win titles and to continue growing. My main position is center-back, but if the coach wants me to play on the right, then I will do my best to help the team,” he said.
Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring for the home side in the 24th minute of a game before Pedri Gonzalez made it 2-0 just before halftime.
In the second half, Lewandowski completed his brace in the 64th minute of the game, while Sergi Roberto completed the rout.
The wind takes Xavi’s men to third on the La Liga table behind Real Madrid and Real Betis. Barcelona have seven points from three matches played, while Real Madrid’s 3-1 victory on Sunday against Espanyol keeps them at the top of the La Liga table with a 100% record.
Vinicius Junior scored the opener in the 12th minute of the game before Espanyol leveled before halftime.
To use late goals from Karim Benzema ensured a 3-1 victory for the Los Blancos against an Espanyol that were reduced to ten men.
