Assistant coach of Celtic football club, John Kennedy has praised full-back Jeremie Frimpong saying he has no alternative but to hand him a chance in the first team.
John Kennedy who has been observing players in that position at the club revealed that the Dutch teenage sensation who joined the Hoops on a four-year deal from the Premier League side Manchester City on the transfer deadline day, 2nd of September said the manager couldn’t help but to give him the chance
Frimpong has been impressive so far since he joined the Scottish champions. He made his debut against Patrick Thistle on the 25th of September, which is just twenty-three days after his deadline move. His performance so far has seen his fee command a £1m with addons.
Celtic cruised to a 5-0 win in that game, and the right-back performed so well, giving opposition defenders a tough time with constant dangerous crosses into the box. This performance made him a fan favourite instantly as they always chant his name in the stands.
Kennedy told reporters in an interview that Jeremie’s coming was a big plus for the club. ” his talent and attitude are phenomenal. Our thoughts initially were to spend him, build him up and hopefully make him one of the best in the future”.
“But to be honest, seeing him over a few periods of weeks and daily was impressive. His performance in training and games is top-notch at that level and age. I have been observing him a lot in practice, and I said to Lennon and Duff that we couldn’t hold him back but to give him a chance”.
Frimpong’s display in Celtic 4-1 win over Ross County on the 19th of October and got his first goal in the 4-0 demolition against Aberdeen as has since gained I become instrumental for the club. If he carries on with such performances, he might get recognition to a big club as he is such a top player for the future.
