Leicester City have completed the signature of Belgian full-back Timothy Castagne from Italian Seria A side Atalanta on a five-year deal.
The defender moved from Genk in Belgium to Atalanta in 2017 and made 76 appearances for the team scoring five goals from his defensive duties.
The 24-Year-Old is a replacement for the departed Ben Chilwell, who moved to Chelsea earlier this summer.
Making his national debut two years ago, he has seven appearances for the Belgian national team with two goals to his name.
However, his deal’s financial terms are undisclosed as his move is subject to clearance from the Premier League.
Castagne played in the Atalanta team that qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in the club’s entire history.
They were knocked out in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League by finalists Paris Saint-Germain.
Ben Chilwell was sold to Chelsea for 45m pounds in August as Brendan Rodger’s side lost another defender in like manner to Harry Maguire’s move to Manchester United in 2019, albeit for a higher transfer fee.
Leicester City missed out on a place in the UEFA Champions League last season after finishing out of the top 4.
However, the team will feature in the UEFA Europa League next season while Atalanta will play in the UEFA Champions League thanks to their third-place finish behind Juventus and Inter Milan in that order in the Seria A.
Meanwhile, for the new season, the Foxes have been able to keep their main target man Jamie Vardy as the striker signed a new 1-year deal ahead of the new season, which will keep him at the club till 2023 as he had two years left on his running contract.
James Maddison and Nampalys Mendy also contract extensions of four and two years extensively.
