Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips recently heaped praises on Jude Bellingham. Phillips pointed out how the youngster has bloomed at such a tender age and plays with great maturity. Phillips insisted that the ‘sky is the limit for Bellingham’.
The young centre midfielder became one of the top prospects in Europe during his time at Birmingham City. Hence he was soon roped in by Borussia Dortmund for £21 million last season.
Ever since joining Dortmund, Bellingham has grown into a better footballer. His overall game has improved leaps and bounds especially his energy in the middle of the park and his intricate passing.
His exceptional performances caught the eyes of England national team manager Gareth Southgate and hence he received his national team callup soon after. However, he got his first senior team debut recently against Austria and looked really good for a youngster.
Phillips, who has seen Bellingham from close quarters, has been amazed by the youngster’s talent. Both Phillips and Bellingham have been selected in England’s final 26 member team for the upcoming Euros.
Speaking to talkSport Phillips praised Bellingham, “I’ve definitely not (seen) a 17-year-old that is as talented as what he is. I don’t even think I am as talented as he is to be honest with you. He is a great player, a great lad as well and he has got the world at his feet.
“Honestly, there are no words to describe how talented he is, as you can see throughout his career at Birmingham and then his move to Dortmund, which is a massive move for a kid so young.
The Leeds midfielder pointed out how Bellingham was exceptional during Dortmund’s Champions League run this season. He also praised how a 17-year -old played with great maturity.
“For a kid so young at 17, you look at him and you can’t quite believe that he’s 17 years old, you can’t believe it because he’s so big, he’s so strong, so powerful.
“He’s a very nice lad as well so it’s nice to rub shoulders with a young lad who is doing so well and now the sky’s the limit for him,” Phillips concluded.
Gareth Southgate has also been very impressed with the young midfielder and his recent comments gave away a strong hint that Bellingham may start for the Three Lions in the upcoming Euros.
“He is not just here for the experience,” Southgate told reporters. “You’ve seen what he is capable of, we’ve seen that for Borussia Dortmund especially in the Champions League.
“The whole group respects him, he has great humility around the camp but he competes in training like he’s been with them from day one which is a great mentality to have.”
