Premier League club Leeds United has appointed Jesse Marsch as its new manager after sacking Marcelo Bielsa at the weekend.
Bielsa oversaw the return of Leeds United to the topflight and led them to a top ten finish last season but has only managed to leave them in just points away from the relegation zone.
The Argentine was relieved of his duty after the Elland Road side lost its fourth game in five Matches after a 4-0 thrashing in the hands of Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday.
Matt Doherty, Dejan Kulusevski, Harry Kane, and Son Heung Min were on the score sheet for Antonio Conte’s side as Leeds conceded twenty goals in five Premier League games scoring just five times.
Meanwhile, newly appointed Jesse Marsch has previously worked at RB Salzburg, where he won the double of the league and league cup twice before joining RB Leipzig in Germany. He has now spoken about his desire to lead the club to the next level.
“I know what a big club Leeds is. I know ex-players who have played here, and I’ve watched this club from afar for many years, and I’m really honored and excited to be here. How [Bielsa] has helped transform Leeds United into a Premier League team is pretty amazing. For me, I just want to help take the torch to the next phase. Everything that has been done has laid an incredible foundation, and, coming in at this moment, I want to do everything I can to take the club into the next stage of our history.” Marsch said.
Leeds United sits in sixteen positions with 23 points from 26 games, two points away from the relegation waters, where Burnley sits in 18th position and is separated by Everton in 17th. The next game will be Leicester City in the Premier League.
