Barcelona president Joan Laporta has revealed that Ousmane Dembele could leave Barcelona with the deals that have been proposed to the French forward.
In his recent interview on Tuesday, Laporta revealed that the former Borussia Dortmund forward is being tempted with offers to leave the club.
Ousmane Dembele has previously been linked with a move away from Barcelona for the previous seasons but has managed to stay on even though his time at Camp Nou has been riddled with several injuries and fitness problems.
Although he was close to leaving Barcelona last summer, a deal could not be finalized for his departure, and he remained at the club.
However, since the arrival of Xavi as the new head coach at Barcelona, Dembele has been revitalized, becoming a key part of Barcelona’s resurrection as they qualified for the UEFA Champions League.
Having put together a string of impressive performances in the La Liga, Dembele has also worked well with some of Barcelona’s winter signings, including Wolves winger Adama Traore and former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Laporta revealed that though the club wants a decision from the player very soon and as fast as possible, they cannot force him to do so even as they do try as much as possible to make him stay at the club.
“He wants to stay, but he is very tempted by other options that may offer better conditions. The offer has been on the table for a long time, and they have asked us until the end of the season to respond. We wanted an answer sooner, but we can’t force it. The coach and I like him. We have made a very important effort to keep him. I see him very comfortable.” Laporta said.
Dembele has been linked with Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal as well as French club PSG.
He has 13 assists from 20 La Liga matches this season to become Barcelona’s assist maker for the season.
