Spanish top flights teams will be docked points should they decide not to play once the La Liga resumes from the coronavirus forced break.
La Liga president Javier Tebas has shown intent and determination to see the league resume and be completed and has warned clubs who may want to shy away when season resumes.
There are eleven round of matches still to be played in the La Liga but aside resumption, alot still needs to be decided and resolved.
‘When they give us the order to be able to play, if there is a club who does not want to play, it will be treated as a no-show, First, three points will be deducted and then maybe more according to the rules.” Tebas was quoted on Mirror.
Furthermore, the La Liga chief has also promised players of their safety with written and guarantees when the season is restarted as players showed concerns about playing while the pandemic is still rave in the country.
La Liga had planned to take big steps towards resumption this week with a testing of all players due to be taken next Tuesday (May 4th) but failure of the government to give a go-ahead meant it has been postponed.
Catalan club Barcelona are top of the log with 58 points, just two points ahead of capital club Real Madrid after 27 games played with eleven games more.
Sevilla are third, Real Sociedad are fourth while Getafe are fifth with Atletico Madrid in sixth position although only two points separates them as they view for UEFA Champions League spots.
Mallorca, Leganes and Españyol occupy 18th, 19th and 20th in that order but nothing is yet to be determined as relegation is yet to be decided. Mallorca are one point away from safety while Leganes is three points away from Celta Vigo in 17th while Españyol has only got 20 points all season.
