Former Real Madrid and Germany midfielder Toni Kroos has given Turkish youngster Arda Guler an advise on how to handle his fitness after an injury disrupted his first season at Santiago Bernabeu.
Guler joined Real Madrid last summer after shunning Barcelona ahead of the 2023/2024 season. However, the midfielder only played 10 La Liga matches for the Los Blancos while managing six goals.
One of the key contributors to his low numbers includes injuries, but he did enough to stay fit for the Euros 2024, where he shone for the Turkish national team.
This hasn’t surprised Kroos, who claims that Guler has shown his exceptional abilities since his first day at Real Madrid. He claims a big career awaits Guler only if he manages to stay fit and healthy.
“He has a great future if he stays healthy. What sets Arda apart from other young players is that he is open to learning. Since he arrived he paid a lot of attention to everything we did before and after training. There aren’t many players like that today. He really wants to learn and improve. His finishing and his left foot are incredible, we all noticed that from the first training session.” Kroos said.
Arda Guler scored one goal and made two assists for Turkey in five Euro 2024 games in Germany as they were knocked out in the quarterfinal. He has rejoined Real Madrid who have traveled to the US ahead of their pre-season tour which starts on Wednesday with a fixture against AC Milan at Soldier Field in Chicago.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side will then play Barcelona four days later before facing Chelsea next week. A UEFA Super Cup fixture against Italian side Atalanta, who won the UEFA Europa League last season, will follow before their first La Liga fixture against Mallorca on August 18.
