Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stated that Burnley is a more quality side than the results that they’ve been getting this season and, as such, will not underestimate their quality when both teams clash at Turf Moor in one of the five-boxing day fixtures on Tuesday in the Premier League.
Liverpool, who are coming to this fixture on the back of a 1-1 with Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday, know that they have to win if you want to keep up with the Gunners, who remain at the top of the Premier League table going into Christmas.
For Burnley, they got a rare win at the weekend, a 2-0 win at Craven Cottage on Saturday, which is their third win in the Premier League this season and a second in five matches. The German manager wasn’t surprised that Burnley got the win, as he has been observing Vincent Kompany’s team for a while.
“I knew before that they are much better than the position and the points they have. I have watched quite a few Burnley games, and I am pretty impressed by what they are doing. On Saturday, they got the reward. We all know if you win once and you have a chance to play again in three days, then you will want to win again, and that’s exactly what we expect – and a pretty good atmosphere as well. We better be, and will be, ready.” Klopp said.
Liverpool are second on the Premier League table with 39 points from eighteen matches so far. Burnley are stuck in the relegation zone with eleven points, three away from safety.
Other Boxing Day Premier League fixtures include Newcastle United hosting Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth hosting Fulham, and Luton Town travelling to Sheffield United. The big fixture on the 26th of December is at Old Trafford when Manchester United hosts Aston Villa.
