Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has stated his frustration over his side’s 0-0 draw against Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday. The two teams clashed at Anfield, with Liverpool holding the advantage and the bookies favorite to get all three points and also move into the top of the table in the Premier League.
Earlier in the day, Arsenal defeated Brighton 2-0 to take advantage of Manchester City’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace on Saturday and create a two points lead at the top of the table before Liverpool’s kickoff.
Jurgen Klopp’s side would have moved to the top of the table had they defeated Manchester United, who have not won in their last four visits to Anfield, but the German manager cut a frustrated figure at the end of 90 minutes as the home side failed to get past Manchester United who finished the game with 10 men.
“I saw a lot of good things; the one thing I don’t like is the result. We should have scored. We were in a rush at moments, but I liked the intensity of the game and the start of the game a lot. Everyone saw what we wanted, our counter-pressing was good as a group, and we didn’t let them out. I can’t remember such a dominant performance against Man Utd – even the 7-0. Now it’s 0-0; they probably feel slightly better than we do. But we take the point and keep going.” Klopp said.
Manchester United’s Diego Dalot failed to finish the game after he was given a second yellow card in stoppage time. Liverpool remain one point in second place behind Arsenal and level with Aston Villa.
First place Arsenal will travel to Liverpool next weekend in a top-of-the-table clash.
