Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho was influential as Leicester City came back from a goal down to defeat Crystal Palace at the King Power Stadium on Monday evening.
The Foxes went behind in the first half when Crystal Palace took the lead through Wilfred Zaha who slotted home in the 12th minute of the game.
The first half of the game ended with the home side failing to find the back of the net but Brendan Rodgers’ men found the back immediately after the breakthrough Timothy Castagne.
Castagne scored after firing home Kelechi Iheanacho’s pull back five minutes after the restart.
The Nigerian forward continued his impressive scoring form, by giving Leicester City the lead, which later turned out to be the winning goal in the 80th minute.
The win puts Leicester City in a good position for the UEFA Champion League positions.
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers revealed that the result was an important one for the team’s European places.
“It was a very important win for us. It was the third game in nine days so a tough schedule. Going one behind against a Roy team, they’re super organised and tough to break down. I thought the players were outstanding. They kept the calmness and control and scored two very good goals. Scoring early into the second half] definitely helps.” Rodgers said.
The result puts Leicester City in third position with 62points, 4 points more than Chelsea, who sits in fourth position and five points away from Manchester United in 2nd place.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace are in 13th position with 38 points from 32 games and are 11 points away from the relegation Sports.
They will face League leaders Manchester City next on Saturday while Leicester City would face Southampton on Friday.
