French Midfielder N’Golo Kante has been declared fit and included in Chelsea’s matchday squad for the UEFA Champions League group stage game at the Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
The 2018 World Cup Winner has struggled so far for consistent appearance as he has only started five games and played just one more this season as a substitute to make a total of six appearances in all.
Kante has suffered from a series of injuries so far this season, which has resulted in him missing some of Chelsea’s games this season, with the most recent being a groin injury.
Coach of the side, Frank Lampard in his press conference, confirmed the midfielder’s return ane availability for the Group H game on Tuesday night. “He’s in the squad, and he’s available,” he said.
Meanwhile, Andreas Christensen and Midfielder Ross Barkley, who have both been out since last month due to thigh and ankle injury respectively, are both back in training.
Should Chelsea win at home tomorrow against Ajax, it will take them atop the group ahead of the Dutch side with three points and, as such, put them in an advantageous position to qualify for the Quarter-final.
Chelsea will then play Valencia in Spain and Lille in England in the remaining games of the group stage.
Meanwhile, Frank Lampard said the group had not been an easy one as every team has nicked three points off each other.
However, despite the disappointment of losing the first game to Valencia, he is delighted with the way his players have responded claiming that almost everyone expects Chelsea to qualify from any group irrespective of the opponents
Furthermore, he claimed the change in the fortune and result of the team since the loss in the game against Valencia is as a result of the team’s belief and hunger to prove themselves by getting positive results against Ajax and Lille.
