Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has stated his opinion on the way the season should end after the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
Majority of leagues in Europe, including the English Premier League, Italian Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga, and the UEFA Champions League, have been put on hold since the second week of March.
Since then, there has been a lot of suggestions and ideas on how to complete the rest of the season, including canceling the season altogether, a four or six teams playoff to determine the champions.
Already, the FA has expunged all the results in the third level of the Non-league, stating no relegation or promotion will be done, albeit the move has generated a lot of opposition from lower league clubs.
Nevertheless, there isn’t a clarity yet on how the rest of the top flights and the English Premier League will be finished as all elite football leagues in England on hold till at least April 30th.
However, the English national team Captain has said that the league be scrapped should it not be finished by the end of June.
Kane, who has netted 11 goals in the league for Spurs this season, was quoted on BBC: “I know the Premier League will do everything it can to finish the season, there needs to be a point where enough is enough. Probably the limit for me is the end of June.”
Similarly, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin stated on Saturday that “the season will probably be lost” if it isn’t restarted before June ending.
The English Premier League still has nine round of matches left in the 2019-20 season and Liverpool are on top of the log with 25 points between them and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
Norwich City are rock bottom while Aston Villa are in nineteenth and Bournemouth make up the three drop spots.
