Juventus will go into the winter break on a winning note after defeating Cagliari 2-0 in their last game of the year.
The Turin giant took the maximum points at the Allianz Stadium through goals from Moise Kean and Federico Bernardeschi.
Cagliari will be blaming themselves for not at least picking a point from the game as they missed some great chances to hurt their hosts.
Despite being without Paulo Dybala, Federico Chiesa, Aaron Ramsey, Danilo and Giorgio Chiellini, Bianconeri took home the maximum points.
Juventus’ confidence seemed to be high. This is because they were playing against the Sardinians, who are already in deep crisis after back-to-back 4-0 defeats and one win all season in Serie A.
The first goal of the game came as Federico Bernardeschi, who was on a smart run towards the right, cut back inside and crossed with his left foot for the head of Kean.
Juventus made further attempts to secure their result. Alex Sandro nodded a corner wide of the near post, but Cagliari should’ve equalized.
Cagliari also missed a guilt edge chance. Raoul Bellanova crossed a ball across the six-yard box, and Dalbert failed to tap in.
Jao Pedro’s header was also stopped by Wojciech Szczesny with a fantastic fingertip save to push the ball over the bar.
The second goal from Juventus was also a rare one from Bernardeschi. The former Fiorentina was sent on the counter by Dejan Kulusevski. The midfielder smashed the angled drive across Cragno into the far bottom corner with his left foot.
This means Bernadeschi has ended his 43-game Serie A goal drought – his first since facing Sampdoria in July 2020.
The win pushed Juventus to 5th on the Serie A table, nine points behind defending champions into the winter break.
Juventus, who have 34 points from 18 games, also have 10 goals difference, very far away from Inter’s 33.
