Aftermath Liverpool’s first English Premier League title win in over 30 years Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been awarded the League Managers’ Association award of the men’s manager of the year for the 2019/2020 season.
Former Manchester United boss and legend Sir Alex Ferguson made the announcement.
“It was thoroughly deserved. The performance level of your team was outstanding. Your personality runs right through the whole club.” Ferguson said on Skysports.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager also spoke of his delight in winning the award and spoke of his excitement after meeting Sir Alex Ferguson, who said he admires so much.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be named the winner of the League Managers Association manager of the year award, for this wonderful Sir Alex Ferguson trophy, named after a man that I admire so much,” said Klopp on BBC.
From 38 games, Liverpool gathered 99 points and led second-placed Manchester City, whom they dethroned by 18 points at the end of the season.
Even though they couldn’t get into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League European, Klopp won the UEFA Champions League with a side last season after beating Tottenham Hotspur in the final; he also won the FIFA Club World Cup last December.
Meanwhile, championship-winning manager with Leeds United, Marcelo Bielsa, was voted the Championship manager of the season after leading them to their first promotion into the top flight since 2004.
In the FA Women’s Super League Chelsea manager, Emma Hayes was named manager of the season.
Meanwhile, a government adviser in the UK has stated that spectators could return to stadiums in the English Premier League and other football grounds in August, although with limited spectators.
Since the coronavirus pandemic started and the football return after the lockdown, all matches have been played behind closed doors, but this could change when next season resumes.
