With the final departure of striker Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona, the German tactician has been looking for ways to rearrange his frontman.
Taking a look at the time left for the remainder of this summer, there are still plenty of chances presented to the manager to work with the senior squad players on different formations and strategies for the coming season.
Some reports reveal that starting next season, Nagelsmann already has plans to play a 4-3-3 and a 3-5-2 formation. This could work perfectly with the arrival of the latest signing, Mathias DeLigt, and Noussair Mazraoui, who already joined the Bavarians from Ajax.
In the wake of this, Nagelsmann has the perfect tools with wingbacks and three central defenders to carry out the 3-5-2 formation, which will eventually pave the way for Paul Wanner in an entirely new role.
Paul Wanner has been impressed in the preseason training preparations and flourishing in the left wingback role.
Wanner, whose original position is the attacking midfield, made his maiden appearance for the senior side early this year. With his latest performances, the Bavarian hierarchies are confident he will commit his long-term future to the club and play major roles next season.
It will be interesting to see if he will continue in such a position when the Bavarians play their upcoming preseason games
The emergence of Wanner won’t threaten the place of Alphonso Davies as he remains the first choice at the left-back position, and since the exit of Omar Richards, it’s safe to say those two will rotate regularly.
Everything seems fine and balanced in the Bayern squad now with Lewandowski gone and Serge Gnabry signing a new deal. However, there are no indications if there will be any more arrivals this summer at the Allianz Arena.
