Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix said that he is looking forward to the 2022/2023 La Liga season. The Portuguese is entering his fourth year as an Atletico Madrid player, and he has spoken of how he looks forward to recording a huge success with Diego Simeone’s side.
The 22-year-old joined Atletico Madrid in 2019 and has made over 80 appearances for the club, scoring 21 times. Last season he scored eight goals and made four assists in 24 La Liga games and has not scored higher than that since his arrival in Madrid, although the player has assured fans he is ready to do better than he has done previously at the club.
“I always try to do better, if this will be my year, I don’t know, we don’t know the future, I’m sure I’ll grow more, and I’m happy, I have a calm head, and when that’s the case, things come naturally. I’m starting my fourth year, and I’m very happy, working to help the team and bring joy to the club and the Atletico fans.” Felix said.
Felix, a UEFA Nations League champion with the Portugal national team in 2019, also won the La Liga title in 2021 with Atletico Madrid.
He was on target on Saturday when Atletico Madrid beat Manchester United on Saturday 1-0 in a preseason friendly. The game played in Oslo, Norway, saw the Portuguese leave a positive sign on Atletico’s new signing, Nahuel Molina.
Meanwhile, the 1-0 victory over Manchester United is Joao Felix’s first game in over seventy days, which underlines why he seems not to have met expectations due to several injury problems he has endured at the club.
Atletico Madrid still has two preseason friendlies this summer, one against Cadiz on Thursday, August 4, and another against Juventus three days later before kicking off their La Liga campaign against Getafe on August 15.
