Former Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez has revealed that he would like to make a return to the Spanish top-flight, specifically with Valencia, especially with the move of Edinson Cavani to the Bats.
James Rodriguez played for Real Madrid between 2014 and 2020, although he was never able to secure a permanent spot at the Los Blancos, going on loan to Bayern Munich.
Subsequently, the Columbian was sold to Premier League side Everton, and from there, he moved to Qatari Sports Club Al Rayyan.
Meanwhile, Edinson Cavani joined Valencia earlier this week on a two-year deal as a free agent after leaving Manchester United last season. It is a return to the La Liga for the Uruguayan striker who once played for capital club side Atletico Madrid.
The 35-year-old termed his exit from the Premier League club last season as a bitter one after his contract was not renewed. Cavani is on course for a debut against Getafe on Sunday.
Meanwhile, James Rodriguez is offering himself for a move to Valencia and linking up with Cavani while tagging the club as a great club and with a great fanbase.
“If Valencia calls me, I will even walk from Qatar. I would take a pay cut. If they need someone to assist Edinson Cavani, I’ll be there. They are a great club with great fans.” Rodriguez said.
Even though Rodriguez still has more years left on his Al Rayyan contract, he revealed that he is ready to take a pay cut to return to Europe.
James played for Porto, Monaco, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Everton before moving to Asia, where he signed for Al Rayyan for an undisclosed fee in 2021.
Valencia have started the La Liga season with one win and two defeats from three games. They beat Girona 1-0 on the La Liga opening day but have lost to Athletic Club and Atletico Madrid.
