Following Leicester City’s confirmation of relegation from the Premier League, James Maddison has expressed his profound “hurt” and “devastation” over the team’s demotion.

This marks the end of an impressive decade-long stint in the top flight, during which Leicester clinched the league title, lifted the FA Cup, and regularly participated in European competitions.

Maddison, one of the key figures at Leicester, took to Instagram to share a poignant post in response to the club’s relegation. The image portrays him on his haunches, symbolizing the weight of disappointment.

“Absolutely devastated to be relegated from the Premier League. I’ve took a bit of time to reflect on the outcome of the season and to be honest it doesn’t make it any easier at all.

“This will hurt for a very long time and probably stick with us all forever. But that’s life & it’s about how you bounce back from setbacks & failure and unfortunately that’s exactly what this season was.. a failure.

“We should never have been in the position we were, with the players we have. But we take responsibility for that & the negativity that comes with it & continue to stick together @lcfc.”

Throughout the season, the 26-year-old contributed significantly, registering ten goals and providing nine assists in the Premier League.
