Paul Pogba has had a difficult time with Manchester United in the last couple of seasons and his manager, Mino Raiola, made a shocking revelation on Monday that the midfielder’s time at Old Trafford is coming to an end soon.
“I can say that it’s over for Paul Pogba at Manchester United,” Raiola told in an interview with Tuttosport.
“Paul is unhappy with Man United as he is no longer able to express himself in the way that he would like and as he is expected to. Paul needs a new team, a change of air. He is under contract for the next 18 months and it will expire in the summer of 2022,” Raiola added.
Pogba joined Manchester United in 2016 from Juventus but he has never been able to settle down here. His time at The Old Trafford has mostly been marred by injuries and poor patches of form.
As far as the current season goes, Pogba has made a total of 13 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions but he has started in only six of them.
This statement from Raiola doesn’t come as a surprise as Pogba himself confirmed that he isn’t happy at the club right now.
“I had never known such a difficult period in my career. The France team is a breath of fresh air, the group is exceptional, it’s magic,” Pogba told RTL while he was on National Team Duty.
Even Didier Deschamps, France’s coach, had told reporters that Pogba wasn’t happy with his situation with the club at that time: “He is in a situation with his club where he cannot be happy, neither with his playing time nor with the position he is playing.”
Raiola’s revelation about his player comes just a day before Manchester United’s clash against RB Leipzig that will decide the future of the club in this Champions League season. The Red Devils are currently placed at the top of Group H with 9 points. PSG and RB Leipzig also have the same number of points but United are ahead on account of Goal Difference. A loss in this match could see United dropping down to as low as third in the group whereas a win will help them retain their place at the top.
