Manchester United defender Raphael Varane admitted that it has been a different experience for him while playing in the English Premier League. Varane played for Real Madrid for 10 years and made a move to the Red Devils ahead of the previous season.
Varane joined Manchester United on a transfer worth around £41 million before the previous season. However, the French player could not get a lot of game time for Manchester United as he struggled with injuries. Varane played a total of 29 matches across all competitions for Manchester United.
The French center-back feels the style of football is different in both of these leagues and he is enjoying playing in England after savoring great success with Los Blancos.
Varane said while talking to Beanyman Sports, “I think in La Liga teams prepare more the attacks; it’s very technical. In England, it is more fast, more intense. There are more counter-attacks so it’s a different (kind of) football. I like both styles so it’s a different experience for me now.”
On the other hand, Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag revealed that Varane was put on special training in the pre-season and they are reaping the rewards for the same.
“Varane’s stature is immense and in pre-season, we took a decision to build him physically so that he had a bit of a slow start. We’re happy we built him in that way and you see when the team needed him, he was there.
“His profile, his stature, and what he has won already in the past shows he can really contribute to his team,” Ten Hag said (via Manchester Evening News).
Varane has done a great job for Manchester United in the ongoing season and he has built a strong defensive wall along with Lisandro Martinez.
