Liverpool forward Mohammed Salah showed his class in a high-octane match against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday. Salah, who is known for his insane dribbling skills, breached City’s potent defense as he went past four of the opposition’s defenders to score a screamer in the 76th minute.
The Egyptian went past Cancelo, Bernardo, Foden, and Aymeric Laporte with ease and finished with his wrong foot. In fact, Salah had also provided the assist to Sadio Mane for the match’s first goal.
Salah was unstoppable in his run and the City defense looked all at sea as he bamboozled the visitors with his incredible skills.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp heaped praise on his player and said it was pure world-class from the forward.
“It is not the first goal [Mo Salah] has scored like this,” Klopp said on BBC Radio 5Live. “I think against Napoli and Tottenham were similar goals but it is pure world class, what a player. He set up the first goal as well for Sadio and it was great goal as well.”
However, unfortunately for Liverpool, Salah’s brilliance could not secure their three points against City as Kevin de Bruyne equalised in the 81st minute with a strike from his left foot which took a deflection off Matip. Earlier, Mane had put the hosts in front but Phil Foden, who also had a stellar match for City, equalised against the run of play.
Jordan Henderson told MOTD2: “It was incredible. He just kept beating players and he’s deadly in those positions. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the winner.”
On the other hand, Salah added they would have been happier had his goal helped the team in winning the game.
“I have to watch it to see,” he told Sky Sports. “It would be more special if we won the game but it is what it is. It’s a good goal but nothing much to say.”
