In an unexpected twist, Gianluca Di Marzio from Sky Sport (h/t FC Inter 1908) has dropped a bombshell, revealing that Inter Milan’s midfield maestro Marcelo Brozovic has declined an offer from Al Nassr, citing the intense interest shown in him by Barcelona.
However, the current financial situation at Camp Nou poses a stumbling block for the Blaugrana, as they are unable to meet Inter Milan’s hefty demands for the 30-year-old midfielder. Despite this setback, Barcelona remains hopeful and plans to present an offer of at least €17 million for the Croatian playmaker in the upcoming days, potentially by offloading one or two players to generate the required funds.
Brozovic has emerged as Barcelona’s primary target for the pivotal midfield role. Just days ago, it seemed inevitable that the La Liga champions would lose out on the seasoned star to Al Nassr, as they had reached a €23 million agreement with Inter Milan.
However, the player himself had not given his consent to the transfer and has now reportedly declined the opportunity, opting to wait for Barcelona’s interest.
Nevertheless, Barcelona faces a financial constraint in matching Al Nassr’s €23 million bid. Unless Inter Milan lowers their asking price, securing Brozovic’s signature could prove to be a challenging task.
Nevertheless, sources suggest that Barcelona will endeavor to negotiate a figure of €17 million, utilizing potential player departures as leverage in their bid for the talented midfielder.
Of course, for the move to materialize, Brozovic would also need to accept a reduced salary compared to the lucrative €20 million per season offered by the Saudi Arabian giants.
Clearly, the path to securing Brozovic’s services is far from straightforward for Barcelona. However, the news that the Inter Milan captain has turned down Al Nassr for the time being should instill hope within the Catalan club. They must now exert every effort to navigate the complexities of this transfer and ensure that the deal crosses the finish line.
