Former Manchester United defender Paul Parker has lashed out at Bruno Fernandes, stating that he is selfish. The Portuguese midfielder was recently criticized for his performances but he went on to compare himself with Arsenal’s winger Nicolas Pepe.
Parker was not impressed by Fernandes’ comparison and slammed the midfielder for the same.
Fernandes had said: “He [Nicolas Pépé] had some bad games and everyone was saying ‘he still has to adapt’ [to the Premier League], but when Bruno was having a bad game, it was just because he was moaning or not focused on the game.”
Responding to Fernandes’ comments, Parker said, “Bruno Fernandes is the kind of person, if the boat was sinking, he would be the first person to jump out of it. That says it all in my opinion.”
“It could be a joke or something, but that’s worrying for me to come out and say something like that. He comes across to me as a very selfish person, when he is saying things like this.”
Parker went on to add that Fernandes needs to be educated during his interaction with the media.
“When again he’s asked to talk to the press, someone’s got to sit next to him and educate him a little bit in what he should say and not say.”
Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes had a terrible run for Manchester United in the previous edition of the league as he could not deliver the goods for the club. Fernandes has scored one goal and provided one assist for Manchester United in the ongoing season.
On the other hand, Nicolas Pepe struggled to get going for Arsenal and has joined Ligue 1 team OGC Nice on a season-long loan.
