Lionel Messi admitted there is no left after winning the FIFA World Cup with Argentina and he has now achieved everything in his glorious career after completing his childhood dream. Messi led La Albiceleste from the front as he scored seven goals and provided three assists in the quadrennial event.
The talisman scored a brace in the all-important final against France to lead Argentina to their third World Cup title. Messi was also awarded the Golden Ball (Player of the tournament) for his exemplary performance.
Messi and Co. fell short in the 2014 World Cup final as they lost to Germany but they were able to go all the way in 2022.
In fact, Argentina got off to the worse possible start as they lost their opening match against Saudi Arabia but they were able to bounce back stronger after the early setback. Furthermore, Argentina also won the Copa America in 2021 after beating arch-rivals Brazil in the final.
Messi said on UrbanaPlay, “It’s at the end of my career, closing a cycle. I achieved everything with the national team I always dreamed. I got everything in my career, individually. It was about closing my career in a unique way.
“I never imagined that all this was going to happen to me when I started, and getting to this moment was the best. I have no complaints and I can’t ask for more. We won the Copa America [in 2021] and the World Cup, there’s nothing left.”
Meanwhile, PSG Saint-Germain will face Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. Messi has scored four goals and provided as many assists in five appearances in Europe’s top football tournament.
