Neymar Jr. has shed light on why Lionel Messi struggled for PSG Saint Germain in the previous season of Ligue 1. Messi joined the French club in the last edition after making a move from Barcelona, where he played for almost 17 years.
Messi scored 11 goals and provided 15 assists for PSG Saint-Germain in Ligue 1 as he failed to adapt to the new conditions in the league.
Messi is regarded as one of the best players to have ever graced the game but he could not hit the ground running for the club. Meanwhile, Barcelona was not able to keep Messi due to financial problems and he joined the Parisians in one of the biggest moves.
On the other hand, Messi and Neymar have known each other for a long time as both of them played for Blaugrana for many years and once again reunited at PSG Saint Germain.
Neymar said while talking to the DAZN soccer show, “I’ve known Leo for a long time. I was able to help him more on the pitch in training through speaking to him. It’s hard to make a change like that because he’d been in Barcelona for many years and now everything has changed for him and his family.”
“It’s tough, but I think he’s doing better now and feels more at home. I want him to enjoy it and for both of us to enjoy it together. We know we have a lot ahead of us and plenty of difficulties, but I’m sure we can get through them.”
Meanwhile, PSG Saint Germain defeated Juventus by 2-1 in the Group H encounter of the UEFA Champions League after Kylian Mbappe scored a brace for the club.
