San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama has been the talk of the NBA since he was picked as the number one draft by the team. The youngster has been welcomed in a grand fashion by the Spurs and he recently had his second practice since joining the team.
Meanwhile, with San Antonio Spurs, Victor Wembanyama will get an opportunity to work under the tutelage of one of the most successful coaches in the NBA coaches – Gregg Popovich.
Popovich has led the Spurs to the playoffs for 22 seasons, winning five titles and setting the standard for wins for all managers worldwide.
In fact, the greenhorn youngster took a cheeky dig at his new coach, stating he works out more than he thought.
Victor said, “He works out more than I thought. Every morning, he’s there running on the treadmill, lifting weights. He communicates a lot with me and he doesn’t want me to make – you know, he wants to take care of me and he wants me to avoid making some mistakes. He’s really present.”
Victor also revealed that he hasn’t been reprimanded by Gregg Popovich yet.
“I thought I would experience the yelling a bit earlier. I haven’t yet, but I’m ready.”
Meanwhile, the 19-year-old will look to deliver the goods in the upcoming NBA season for San Antonio Spurs. The youngster has shown all the skills to go a long way in his career and he will look to keep getting better with experience while rubbing shoulders with the best players in the business.
Victor will look to pick Gregg Popovich’s brain and keep improving his craft at the top level.
