Lionel Messi continued his magic for Inter Miami CF as he scored in his fifth straight match for the club. Inter Miami CF defeated Charlotte FC by 4-0 in the quarterfinals of the Leagues Cup at Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Friday and Messi scored the final goal for his team.
Josef Martínez opened the scoring for Inter Miami in the 12th minute of the game. Subsequently, Robert Taylor scored in the 32nd minute whereas Adilson Malanda scored an own goal in the 78th minute. Messi then put the game to bed as he found the back of the net in the 86th minute.
Charlotte FC head coach Christian Lattanzio showered praise on Lionel Messi for his prolific performance and said the World Cup winner just needs one second to convert his chance.
This was Messi’s eighth goal in his fifth game for Inter Miami as he continued the good show.
“When you have Messi, you know he just needs a chance. He just needs one second,” Charlotte coach Christian Lattanzio said as quoted by ESPN. “You have to be very sharp to stop him from producing the magic he’s been producing since he went to Barcelona when he was 16.”
Messi has been in stellar form and he will look to keep delivering. Robert Busquets, who played with Messi for Barcelona, said it is great to play with the talisman.
“It’s beautiful to play with each other again,” said Busquets.
Inter Miami has been given a shot in the arm since the arrival of the Argentine and the team has come with the collective effort to get the job done.
