Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has stated that the club signed him to help the club win the UEFA Champions League. The Nowergian made this comments less than 24 hours after scoring five times in the team’steam’s 7-0 victory over RB Leipzig in the second leg of their round of 16 clash.
After moving to the quarterfinal on an 8-1 aggregate scoreline, Manchester City will wait to see the team they will be paired against in the next round out of the other seven teams that have qualified.
Irrespective of whoever is drawn for Manchester City in the quarterfinal draws on Friday, Haaland believes his addition to the city team is to win the UEFA Champions League more than the Premier League the team has won four times in the last five seasons.
“Of course, the club want to win the Champions League. They’veThey’ve won four out of the last five Premier League titles. They didn’tdidn’t bring me in to win the Premier League because they already know how to win it. So, you can read between the lines. I’mI’m here to try to help the club develop even more and to win the Champions League for the first time.” Haaland said.
Erling Haaland has already scored 33 goals in 25 UEFA Champions League games with ten of those coming in this season’sseason’s competition.
He’sHe’s also the top scorer in the Premier League with 28 goals and five assists so far.
Italian side Inter Milan held on against FC Porto to move into the quarterfinal of the competition, while Real Madrid and Napoli got the desired results on Wednesday to join Bayern, Benfica, and Chelsea in the next round.
