The signing of Bellingham promises to be the summer drama, with several big clubs very interested in taking over the young English promise.
For months there has been talk that Liverpool is leading the charge to hire the player, and Jurgen Klopp has been asked about the player several times. But the German coach gave a somewhat evasive answer in a recent press conference.
“There’s nothing to say about it to be honest.
“If we don’t speak about players we are signing or not signing, why would I talk about it now?”
Klopp continued: “It’s not about Jude Bellingham. I never understood why we constantly speak about things we theoretically cannot have.
“You have to realize what you can do. It’s about what you can do, and you work with that. You have to work with what you have. We are not children.
“You wouldn’t say as a five-year-old at Christmas you want a Ferrari, you don’t say ‘that’s a good idea’. It’s too expensive, and you can’t drive it.
“Whatever we need and want, we try absolutely everything to get it, but there are moments when you have to accept it’s not possible and step aside and do different stuff.”
For their part, Manchester City has emerged as the club leading the race to hire the player, as they have maintained excellent relations with Dortmund regarding signing players. The successful signings of Gundogan, Haaland, and Akanji show how close the two clubs are.
But when Guardiola was asked about the possibility of signing the player, he gave an unexpected response.
“How many press conferences have you come here? Guardiola told the reporter who asked him the question about Bellingham and continued,
“You know the answer, it’s not necessary, you have to prepare better.
“You come here prepare the questions knowing me which answer I am going to give to your question. Next one.”
