Germany got a five-star result against Italy in the UEFA Nations League match played on Tuesday evening at the Borussia-Park between the two sides.
The Germans had their last 4 games without a win, having played four consecutive 1-1 draws in the previous matches.
Their last victory was a 2-0 win against Israel in March, but since then, the 2014 FIFA World Cup winners played three 1-1 draws against Netherlands and Italy in the first leg of the Nations League earlier in June and another 1-1 draw against Hungary before the return leg on Tuesday evening.
The German started the scoring through Joshua Kimmich in the 10th minute of the game, while Ilkay Gundogan made it 2-0 with a penalty at halftime.
Germany resumed scoring with Thomas Muller six minutes after the break, and Timo Werner got a brace within a minute in the 68 and 69 minutes.
However, there was time for Italy to get some consolation through 18-year-old Wilfred Gnonto with 13 minutes left to play and Alessandro Bastoni in stoppage time.
In group 3, League A, it is the Hungarians who top the table with seven points from four games, one more than the Germans in second place with six points.
The Italians are in third with five points from four matches while England has a single goal and two points from four games played.
The three lions lost scandalously with a 4-0 scoreline against the Hungarians at the Molineux Stadium. Roland Sallai scored a brace.
Manchester City defender John Stones was sent off with eight minutes left to play. In other matches, the Netherlands beat Wales 3-2 while Poland lost to Belgium 1-0, Ukraine and Ireland played a 1-1 draw, and Scotland beat Armenia 4-1.
