Gavi has taken to the socials to congratulate his friend, teammate and compatriot Lamine Yamal following the latter’s Kopa trophy triumph in a high-profile fashion on Monday.
This is as a result of his explosion onto the global stage in the last one year, which has seen him help Spain to clinch the 2024 Euros in Germany, and is currently on fire in the La Liga under the tutelage of Hansi Flick – already boasting six goals and seven assists in fourteen appearances – where Barca is topping the pile with six points.
The Blaugrana wonderkid notched seven goals and nine assists in fifty appearances for Barcelona last season. He also merged the youngest player to register an assist and score at the European Championship during Spain’s triumphant Euro 2024 campaign, which he finished with a goal and four assists to his name.
The 17-year old witnessed his talents recognized by the way of clinching the Kopa award on Monday night and he has since been showered by messages of congratulations from across the world of football.
Barça’s Golden Boy Gavi was among the people who congratulated the youngster. Gavi posted a picture of the 17-year-old winger with himself and Pedri holding the Kopa Trophy, along with the caption: “More than deserved, brother.”
The Spanish midfielder, who recently returned to senior football this month having been injured for almost one year, came on in the 87th minute of Saturday night’s 4-0 romp of Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu by Barcelona in the El-Clasico.
He replaced Pedri in the final minutes and it didn’t take him long to get involved in a heated clash with Vinicius Junior in which he reminded the Brazilian of the scoreline by flashing four fingers at his face.
Barcelona will gist Espanyol in their next La Liga game after the El Clasico victory last weekend.
