Galtier finally departs OGC Nice ahead PSG move

OGC Nice have finally confirmed the departure of Christophe Galtier, who is heading to Paris Saint-Germaine.

Nice revealed this after welcoming the return of former Borussia Dortmund’s coach, Lucien Favre.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Nice president, Jean-Pierre Rivère said he is happy with the latest development and wished Galtier the best of seasons.

While noting that it was a fantastic opportunity that had to be taken, he said he won’t want to get involved in revealing his next destination.

According to reports, Galtier could be announced as PSG manager on Tuesday after the capital club finally reached an agreement with Mauricio Pochettino.

It was gathered that the former Tottenham Hotspur manager negotiated his departure to the nearest euro.

The Paris club reportedly managed to agree with Galtier for a two-year contract, plus an optional one.

PSG also paid a compensation of 5 million euros to OGC Nice, who originally wanted between 8 and 10 million euros.

In another development, Alphonse Areola has completed his move to West ham United.

The French goalie was on West Ham’s payroll. He was the team’s goalie in the Europa League.

Confirming the transfer, the Hammers revealed the 2018 World Cup winner had played 75 Ligue 1 matches with the Rouge-et-Bleu.

Before joining the London club, Areola had been loaned to Real Madrid, Fulham, and then West Ham.

Having guided West Ham to the semi-finals of the Europa League last season, he couldn’t secure a starting shirt at PSG due to  the presence of Keylor Navas and Gianluigi Donnarumma,

According to a statement from West Ham, the 29-year-old has signed with the club till 2027.

During his stint with PSG, Areola won three French Champion titles (2013, 2018, 2019), two French Cups (2017, 2018), two League Cups (2017, 2018), and three Champions Trophies (2016, 2017, 2019).

He also played 107 matches for the Ligue 1 giant in all competitions. Last season.

Last season, the “Titi,” as he is fondly called, made 18 Premier League appearances with West Ham as part of a one-year loan.

He was also part of the France team that won the 2018 FIFA world cup.

Obviously, he wanted the transfer as the chance of playing regularly is higher at the Olimpic Stadium than the par Des Princes.

He only needs to fight for the shirt with Lukasz Fabianski.
