Premier League side Fulham have signed defender Timothy Castagne from Leicester City in a four-year deal for an undisclosed fee, although the defender has an option to extend for a year when the contract expires in 2027.
The 27-year-old defender spent the last three seasons at the King Power’s Stadium, where he made 116 appearances in all competitions for the Foxes.
Castagne, who played 37 games as the Foxes got relegated from the Premier League last season, has not played a game at all in the championship under new manager Enzo Maresca and has now returned to the top flight after what he describes as a long summer transfer window.
“It’s been a long transfer window, but finally, I’m here, and I’m happy to be here. It’s a big relief. I’ve talked to the manager, and I just can’t wait to start training and playing.” Castagne said.
The full-back has previously played for Atalanta and Genk in his career, and he becomes Marco Silva’s fourth summer signing to the senior squad following the arrivals of Adama Traore, Raul Jimenez, and Calvin Bassey.
Meanwhile, Fulham’s vice chairman Tony Khan said he is excited to see Timothy Castagne at Fulham as he considers him a versatile and very talented defender with great experience in the Premier League and international competition for Belgium.
Furthermore, Khan says I’m pleased that Timothy will be an excellent addition to Marco’s squad just as the other could make his Premier League debut against Manchester City this weekend.
Fulham’s game last weekend in the Premier League was a pulsating 2-2 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, where the team finished the game with ten men.
The Cottagers faced Spurs in the EFL Cup on Tuesday evening and will play defending champions Manchester City at Etihad Stadium on Saturday. The Treble winners got a hard-fought 2-1 win away at Sheffield United on Sunday thanks to Erling Haaland and Rodri.
