France’s defense of their UEFA Nations league title continued to fall as they remain winless in the current UEFA Nations league campaign after four games.
The Le Blues has just two points from their first four games, and on Monday evening, they faced their 2018 FIFA World Cup final opponents Croatia at the Stade de France.
In Russia in 2018, France managed to secure a 5-2 victory over the Croats to lift the world cup title. However, on Monday evening in one of the League A Group 1 matches, the script did not go as planned.
France had lost 1-2 to Denmark in the first game before playing two consecutive 1-1 draws against Croatia and then Austria before Croatia’s visit.
Manager Didier Deschamps made several changes to the side that started against Austria the last time out, but it made little to no difference.
Croatia got into the lead in the first 10 minutes when they were awarded a penalty. Luka Modric stepped up to poke it home to give them a 1-0 lead. Neither side could add to the tally, and the visitors snatched all three points.
Meanwhile, Denmark went atop of the table with nine points from four games after beating Austria 2-0. Both games came from the first half of the game.
In other matches, Israel held Iceland to a 2-2 draw in Reykjavik, Kazakhstan beat Slovakia 2-1, and Azerbaijan defeated Belarus 2-0.
On Wednesday, England will host Hungary while Germany will face Italy, the Netherlands would welcome Wales while Poland will host Belgium, and Armenia and Scotland will play.
Bosnia and Herzegovina would welcome Finland, Romania vs. Montenegro is also on the menu, and Ukraine faces Ireland. Luxembourg and Faroe Islands, Turkey, and Lithuania are some of the select UEFA Nations League matches from Tuesday.
