Former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham wants PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino as new gaffer at Old Trafford

Manchester United are in need of a new manager someone who carry forward the legacy at the club and also be in line with the demands of the fans of how they want the team to play. Therefore former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham came up with a very controversial yet bold choice. Sheringham forwarded current Paris Saint Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino’s name. He feels that the ball movement and other coaching aspects of the Argentinian are similar to that of Pep Guardiola.

Sheringham believes that Pochettin can achieve that style of play that the United fans want him to and can be a perfect fit at Old Trafford. There are rumours of PSG sacking him for an early exit from the Champions League so that puts an end to his commitment to the current team.

Pochettino along with Ajax Amsterdam manager Erik ten Haag are considered as probable successors of Ralf Rangnick as he will get a bigger role in team management. A lot of United former players and people in team management actually prefer the idea of Pochettino.

Sheringham among the former players prefer the PSG manager and feels that he has elements of Guardiola in him that will help him succeed at Old Trafford. He recently shared his ideal managerial choice in an exclusive interview with ‘The Sun’. He feels that Pochettino’s style of play is similar to the ways United played during their glory days.

“When you look at what Man United demand, what their supporters demand from the last 30 years and what Sir Alex told us he demanded, because of what the supporters expected, because of the Busby Babes all those years ago and the way they played football – we were told not just to win, but win in style – take the game to the opposition.”

Sheringham feels that the submissive attitude of the Red Devils should go and under Pochettino he sees all of that going away as they will dominate the ball. “Don’t be scared of the opposition, go for the throat all the time and see what happens. When you look at certain managers around and how they play the game, I think for me, Pochettino controls the ball like Pep Guardiola.”

The treble winning striker with Manchester United shared how Pochttino’s teams are not only sitting back and waiting for their opportunity to attack or playing in and around that. He likes the way Pochettino dominated and controls the game, something he feels is the need of the hour for the Red Devils.
