Former Manchester United Rio Ferdinand lavished praise on West Ham United duo of John McGinn and Declan Rice. Ferdinand feels that the duo will be a perfect fit at United given the current condition at Old Trafford and their current needs. He feels that they can fill up the gaps in the middle of the pitch and help the club excel.
Their midfield has been a major problem for them this season and having players like Declan Rice and John McGinn will surely ease up things in the middle allowing more stability overall.
The Red Devils will be very busy in the transfer market in the coming summer as they look to address the issue. There are a host of names that are bookmarked by the team management and these two West Ham players must at least be considered is how Ferdinand feels. According to media reports, Rice has been a top target for the Red Devils for some time now.
Ferdinand shared his opinion on the Five YouTube channel as he feels that he will be happy to see both the players at Old Trafford. “Yeah, massively. I think you’re getting two good characters. I think character is one of the main elements that we need – obviously, you look for a certain amount of class and quality in the players,” said Ferdinand.
He feels how Manchester United need the right characters in the middle of the pitch and Rice and McGinn are exactly that. He adds how McGinn might not be the most exciting midfielder but he is considered a great team player who can get the best out of his teammates. They need a character like him in the middle along with someone more dynamic in Declan Rice.
“I think some would say, “oh John McGinn not a sexy enough signing”, but I think he’s a very good player and by all accounts a very good lad, a great professional, not afraid to say what he wants to say to people to get the best out of them.”
Speaking about Rice, Ferdinand claimed that he has already praised him a lot in the past and that he absolutely loves what the youngster brings to the table. He highlighted how top teams will be looking to build their teams around him.
“Declan Rice, I’ve said enough about him. I love this player, I love this guy. If you’re one of the top teams, you want to build a team around him,” said Ferdinand.
