Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock feels Mohamed Salah’s poor form is the primary concern for Liverpool

Liverpool have experienced a bumpy ride in their start of the new season as they were thrashed 4-1 against Napoli in the UEFA Champions League opener. Jurgen lopp’s men looked nervy in the Merseyside Derby against Everton where it ended 0-0 and now they followed it up with a big loss against the Italians in their opening European night.

Piotr Zielinski scored a brace while Giovanni Simeone and Zambo Anguissa scored one each to finish off the Reds at the Diego Maradona Stadium in Naples. Luis Diaz was the only one to find the net for the English outfit as there were a lot of questions regarding Liverpool and some of the players and Jurgen Klopp.

Former Liverpool defender Stephen Wrnock questioned Liverpool star Mohamed Salah’s form since the Africa Cup of Nations. Salah had no involvement in anything even in the match where they scored nine goals against Bournemouth giving the indication that he is going through a dry patch.

He has scored twice this season and has been very below par till now. He is the leader of the men in this Liverpool side and therefore seeing him so much down in form has affected the team’s mentality overall. The Egyptian had a short dry patch last season as well but people thought it was just a period of bad form but now as things get more serious this season , the fans are expecting Salah to step up which he has not been able to do. Hence Warnock feels among many problems, Salah’s form is a major concern for the Reds.

“The big question is Mohamed Salah’s form. Six goals since the AFCON’s (2021 African Cup of Nations). Not really looking like he can beat a player. Not really looking like what we have seen him in the past,” Warnock shared to Sky Sports.

The English left back feels it will be a tough call for Klopp to freshen out the forward line and give Salah a rest for a couple of matches. “Will Jurgen Klopp have a big decision to make, maybe to change around that front line for a couple of games? Just to give him a spell out of games after signing that big contract.”

Salah signed a massive contract keeping him at the club till 2025 but has not done any justice to it with his performances on the field this season. Reports on The Guardian also suggest that he is now the highest paid player in Liverpool’s history.

The Reds will be looking to return to winning ways when they host Wolves on Saturday at the Anfield.
